One of the largest horses in the world, the Shire originated in the Shires of England and is a descendent of the old English Black horse.
Shires will stand up to 19+ hands and may be bay, black or gray in colors very strong, big barreled horse with long legs and much feather it can easy weigh a ton or more. Despite it size and strength it is the gentlest horse, often call the gentle giant.
Shires are still used in farming, as well as pulling carriages and hitch wagons and increasingly for riding.
Welcome to Shire Power farm We are a small farm in East central Indiana. We show and breed the black and bay Shires.
With our breeding program we strive to breed into our Shire's correct conformation, good feet and legs, and a willingness to serve.
